RAK FTZ proved for the second time its full commitment to the world's highest quality management standards.

The zone was awarded this certificate for the first time in October 2003, when an external audit was conducted by Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) and consequently the zone was deservingly awarded the QMS certification.

To provide its clients with the world's most advanced facilities, RAK FTZ actively implements ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System along with other creative strategies which have proved ground breaking success and attracted even more clients from around the globe.

Oussama El Omari, the Director General of the RAK FTZ said the zone's certification was a natural outcome for the implementation of a set of quality procedures and superior services which carefully observes and meets the needs of the zone's clients.

"The zone's second certification basically stands for a government department's successful experiment in implementing the ISO requirements. Several improvements have been added to the zone's line of services before the second certification was secured and that has greatly benefited the zone's clients," he said.

He added that under the directives of Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, RAK FTZ Chairman, the zone has been performing according to the world's most advanced standards to maintain continuous growth.

RAK FTZ is also in the process of being awarded the Environment Certificate ISO 14001:2004 which is the zone's next objective. The zone gives the environmental protection the top priority and imposes strict environmental rules and conditions on the registered industrial companies and factories to observe.

The RAK FTZ has witnessed significant economic growth during the year and looks set to continue the success story. So far, RAK FTZ has registered more than 1000 new companies in 2006, an increase of 145 per cent compared with last year's results.
