The two one-year programmes are Pre-Employment Course (Power) Programme and Pre Employment Course (Desalination) Programme,

The aluminium giant's measures are in line with its strategic initiative to prepare the UAE nationals for their future career and improve their overall technical skills as approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister for Finance and Industry and Chairman of DUBAL.

Mr. Ibrahim Nasser, General Manager, HR&OE, DUBAL, said:

'The performance of the UAE nationals who joined the previous three apprenticeship training programmes have been quite positive. In order to cash in on the positive response to these programmes, we have launched two more such courses.'

On successful completion of the one-year Pre-Employment Course (Power) Programme graduates will be offered jobs as full-time Assistant Power Operators. A total of seven employees have already joined this programme.

Moreover, four DUBAL employees have joined the Pre Employment Course (Desalination) Programme for theoretical and on-the-job experience. They will be offered employment as full-time Assistant Desalination Operators on completion of the course.

'The course objectives include delivering technical knowledge and skills to trainees recruited from various educational backgrounds and to identify candidates and prepare them for further development to meet DUBAL's nationalization targets,' said Mr. Nasser.

'DUBAL will continue to offer such programmes, targeting young UAE nationals so that with the development of personal skills they can join in the progress of the country,' Mr. Nasser added.
