Brasil's exports growth continues to boom in the Middle East

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, October 30 - 2006 at 11:28
  • PRESS RELEASE

Brasil's exports into the Middle East construction industry totaled over US $128 million in the first half of this year, it was announced at The Big 5 Trade Show today.

The investment is a 4.44 per cent increase on last year and reflects Brasil's rapidly growing exports interests in the region.

Overall Brazilian exports into the United Arab Emirates is US $750 million. Some of the main sectors currently involved in these overseas transactions are sugar, meat, vehicles, aircrafts, chemicals, medical equipment and iron ore, among others.

APEX-Brasil, the Brazilian government Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, which is showcasing 30 exhibitors at the trade show, revealed the growing demand for Brazilian products in Gulf countries included ceramics, wooden windows and doors, pipes and connections, stones, air-conditioners, accessories for bathrooms, industrial kitchens and heaters.

APEX-Brasil has organized a 400m2 Brazilian pavilion for The Big 5 in order to house 10 Brazilian companies of ceramic coverings; 11 extractors and producers of marble and granite; two manufacturers of air-conditioning and solar energy equipment, and four organisational entities.

The two-floor booth will include a Café Brasil, and will showcase products typical to Brasil such as coffee, guarana and dainties.
Marketing Brasil in Dubai prior to the event has also been extensive, and has included the introduction of 120 billboards across the city, the delivery of almost 20,000 invitations to potential buyers to visit the Brazilian booth, 1,999 SMS text messages notifying people about the Brazilian participation, and the launch of the website www.big5-brasil.com.br.

The marketing campaign, called 'Brasil, the New Alternative', is exclusive to the region and has been implemented to build Brasil's awareness and image abroad as one of the world's biggest players in the construction industry.

APEX-Brasil also has a Distribution Centre (DC) in Jebel Ali. In order to give exports a boost, the Agency has created other DCs for Brazilian products in major cities around the world, including Miami, Frankfurt and Lisbon. Each DC operates as a local office where exporting companies store, display and trade their products directly with end consumers.

"Our Distribution Centre helps to lessen the distance between the supplier and the importer," says APEX-Brasil's coordinator for International Events, Juarez Leal.

"And in addition to the Distribution Centre's convenience, Brasil has premium products and is competitive in price," he added.
