RAK FTZ contributes in big construction projects

Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) with its insights strictly focusing on contributing to the economy of the emirate has been perfectly highlighted during the Big 5 Show.

RAK FTZ has taken part in the Big 5 for the fourth consecutive year as an essential part of its strategy to attract some of the major international construction and real estate developing companies. The most successful trade show held at Dubai World Trade Center gives the zone the chance to get in direct touch with the world's biggest building and construction, water Technology and environment, air - conditioning and refrigeration, cleaning and maintenance, glass and metal, bathroom and ceramics, marble and machinery contacts under one roof.

The unique construction industry event was able to draw the attention and attract more than 3,000 participating companies from around 60 countries around the globe. The zone's stand has also been a major attraction for the visitors of the show. The stand at the show was awarded with a brilliant opportunity to highlight the zone's tempting packages for potential investors to start new bases in Ras Al Khaimah.

A big number of the participating companies and visitors have already registered with the zone and more of them are expected to apply for the registration soon. Since the beginning of the ongoing year (2006) more than 1,000 new companies have joined with the zone to raise the total number of the registered companies at the zone to 2,215 so far.

Oussama El Omari, CEO/Director General of RAK FTZ said, "The UAE is one of the world's most developed countries in the construction industry. The Big 5 Show is the most comprehensive event of the year for contractors and specifiers, architects, engineers and buyers throughout the Middle East to explore and broaden their business horizons."

Maryam Al Murshidi Al Shehhi, Assistant Director of RAK FTZ said, "The zone has been actively taking part in all the activities which truly serve and enhance the emirate's economy. The zone has been involved in the UAE Flag Project aimed at the investment of Dhs 7 billion to construct seven areas which depicts each of the UAE emirates."

Al Murshidi added that the zone is also involved in the Dhs 200 million Al Cove Project aiming at constructing 134 five star villas on the emirate's shores. In addition to that, RAK FTZ is a key player in the establishment of "RAK Airport Business Park" at a total investment of Dhs 1 billion. This project aims at constructing a residential and office complex along with a world class hotel and a cargo village.

Due to the big number of inquires received at the show, the zone's management decided to extend its ground breaking and comprehensive offer of $ 6,700 (Dhs 24,500) to start a new base at the (RAK FTZ) till the end of December. The package is inclusive of the zone's registration fees, the commercial license, the visas, membership fee of the RAK Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the office annual rent.
