"This is a clear indication of Cognos' commitment to investing in the region," said Derek Morrison, regional general manager, Cognos Middle East.
"We want to enable our partners to achieve their goals and targets while offering customers the best possible services. This certification scheme will help IT staff gain expertise in business intelligence systems. The demand for BI skills from leading technology consultancies is growing but there is a need for qualified workers. We want to empower companies in the Middle East so that they can reap the advantages of BI and turn data into valuable information that can further the aims of the business."
BSG, which has been a Cognos partner since 2005, won this year's Rising Star MEA award for its innovation, influence and thought leadership at Cognos' Partner Summit 2006.
"BSG has been involved in BI training for almost 10 years and we are pleased to be the first Cognos authorised training centre in the Middle East," said Nasser Tufail, managing director, BSG.
He added: "What it means for our customers is that they can now get consistent, quality training locally, or regionally, without having to travel to the US or Europe, which has previously been the only option open to them."
Cognos training will be offered by BSG at their training facilities initially in Dubai, and then in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Training will be delivered by Cognos certified professionals tutored on the structured training methodology employed by Cognos worldwide.
"With the launch of an authorised training centre in Dubai, our customers who have invested in Cognos technology, will benefit from increased self-sufficiency on our products, improved product satisfaction and maximise the return on their investments," added Tufail.
