  • PRESS RELEASE

The Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, a popular getaway destination for Middle East travellers, has been named the No.1 hotel in Switzerland for the third year in succession.

The luxury hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva came out on top in the annual initiative by the leading Swiss economic magazine, 'Bilanz', to identify the top 50 hotels in Switzerland. It is the first hotel to win the award three years in a row.

In another honour for the Beau-Rivage Palace, the hotel's Sylvie Gonin-Chaperon, a familiar face to guests from many Middle East countries, was named Concierge of the Year in Switzerland.

'Bilanz' bases its annual top 50 on the findings of its journalists when visiting leading hotels across Switzerland.

A $70 million renovation has transformed the 130-year-old Beau-Rivage Palace, creating 21st century standards for guests, without affecting its historic charm and elegance, and this was a significant factor in keeping the hotel at the top in Switzerland.

The Beau-Rivage Palace, which has e-mail (info@brp.ch) and telephone (00 41 21 613 33 33) hotlines for Middle East guests, was named 'Historic Hotel of the Year' for 1999 by the International Council on Monuments and Sites. The award commended the hotel for preserving 130 years of tradition, and historical value, throughout its modernisation and renovation.
