Headquartered in Dubai, Sama Dubai is the international real estate development and investment arm of Dubai Holding. Following the successful creation of its two real estate brands "Dubai Towers" and "Salam" its footprint already stretches across the Middle East to North Africa and Turkey. And, just one year after its launch, it has well developed plans for global expansion.

Within the travel and tourism industry "Salam" aims to be one of the finest integrated luxury resort developers in the world. It is a concept that revolves around extensive and luxurious use of space and natural beauty with resorts, chalets, cabins, wellness centres and health spas set amidst landscaping and water features which provide relaxed lifestyle options close to nature.

Designed to resemble an Arabian city, the "Salam Beach Resort and Spa - Bahrain" captures the spirit of traditional Bahrain architecture. In Oman, the "Salam Resort and Spa - Yiti" builds on the natural canvas provided by its beachfront setting and mountain back drop and the "Salam Sports and Leisure Resort - Shinas" reflects the rich mangroves and bird sanctuaries that create a sense of nature and escape.

"Every one of our Salam projects has a unique theme tailored to the needs of a highly demanding tourism market," said Farhan Faraidooni, Chief Executive Officer, Sama Dubai. "Although different in their offerings, each occupies a prime location that reflects the culture and heritage of its local community."

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the 'package holiday' and Faraidooni believes the sun will continue to shine brightly on the holiday industry, which is poised to enter a new, exciting era of growth and opportunity.

In the Middle East alone, travel and tourism is expected to generate US $220 billion of economic activity in 2015, compared with US $128.6bn in 2005, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. In addition, tourism demand in the region is expected to grow by 4.4 per cent per annum, in real terms, between 2006 and 2015.

"One of our key strengths is recognizing markets with growth potential," said Faraidooni. "Our intention is to utilize the strong base we are building in the Middle East to meet the global demand for pioneering tourism concepts that are characterized by quality of design, prime locations and sensitivity to the culture and heritage of the local community."
