DIHRD partners with American Society for Quality to raise government excellence bar in the UAE

The Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) to help raise the UAE's government excellence bar to international standards.
Since 1946, the American Society for Quality (ASQ) has been engaged in creating better workplaces and communities worldwide by advancing learning, quality improvement and knowledge exchange to improve business results.
Mohamed Jassim, CEO of DIHRD said: "Establishing international partnerships is part of our strategy to bring the best knowledge and practice to government employees. This agreement with ASQ will make a significant contribution to our goal of building a highly educated society in the UAE on par with international standards."
Formed in 2003, DIHRD reflects Dubai's vision to deliver extraordinary government service by providing top quality training programmes for government employees, empowering them to lead the country's dynamic growth curve.
Ron Atkinson, President, ASQ said: "ASQ offers value to everyone in today's world - we are people with a common interest - no matter what continent we call home. We find each other and our circle of resources expand. We believe that quality concepts are not limited by geographic boundaries."
To drive the quality initiative forward, Khalid El Gohary Director of Training and Consulting for DIHRD will collaborate with Sunil Thawani, ASQ Country Councillor and Proctor for the UAE.
Pointing out that ASQ's partnership with DIHRD is its first strategic initiative in the UAE, Thawani said: "With increasing competitive pressures and demanding customers, Dubai's drive for quality management is continually increasing.
"Its exciting to be a part of the country's vibrant growth. We are confident of making this partnership a success, ensuring its benefits to all the participants."
The world's largest society of quality professionals with over 90,000 members worldwide, ASQ offers technologies, concepts, tools and training to quality professionals, quality practitioners, and everyday consumers. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the 60-year-old organization is a founding partner of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a prominent quarterly economic indicator.
