The opulent jewellery brand was launched in a private ceremony where invited guests previewed three of Gilan's most enchanting collections: Saressa; Princesses; and Classic, in the form of a guided cultural tour.

'Each piece is considered a piece of art, with its historical significance, rich culture, fusion of abstract symbols, and point of inspiration,' explained Mr. Muharrem Gilan, Gilan President.

'The response we received during the launch was terrifically positive, which reinforced our jewellery's appeal to the self-confident and expressive Arab woman. It naturally followed that we showcase our designs to the esteemed Jewellery Arabia attendees,' Mr. Gilan continued.

'Gilan representatives will be on hand at the exhibition to assist our guests in their experience, and to indulge them in the jewellery's fusion of ancient Oriental mysticism with contemporary western culture,' Mr. Gilan concluded.

Gilan's designs- hailed by American Vogue as 'serotonin-inducing'- have lured an impressive following including royalty and celebrities such as: Princess Yasmine Aga Khan, Christina Aguilera, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, and Badgley Mischka, the Hollywood stars' favourite fashion designer.

Lauded as the brand of the 21st century, and catering to a high-end life style, Gilan's New York boutique on 5th Avenue, neighbours the likes of Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Van Cleef and Arpels. The Company, which has a 25 year legacy in jewellery design- 15 years of which is the Gilan brand- also has boutiques and showrooms in Paris, Moscow, Istanbul, and Baku.

Gilan, however, vows never to become a chain and to always remain 'boutique', thereby giving individual attention to their boutique guests, and continuously deepening relations. The Company plans to establish two sales points in the Middle East by the end of 2008.

The founders Ferhan and Muharrem Gilan, began designing jewellery in a 1.5-square-metre workshop in Bursa, Turkey. The Gilan brand opened its first store in the Akmerkez shopping centre in Istanbul- a centre which retains its status as one of Europe's most prestigious malls.
