  • PRESS RELEASE

Those taking part will raise substantial funds for South African charities that support children affected by poverty, violence and AIDS.

This will be Gulf for Good's first expedition to South Africa, although not the first time that the Charity has taken a team to the world's largest continent. Previously they've taken charity adventurers to the top of Mounts Kilimanjaro and Sinai, and cycling along the Nile.

G4G's Communications Director, Tricia Evans, explains: "2007 will mark our 6th year of operations, so we wanted to start our second 5 years with something fresh and exciting. In the past we have had adventures and raised money for different charitable causes in Africa - and around the world - so we decided that now is a perfect time to explore South Africa and help such a worthwhile cause there. Whether trekking through the magnificent coastal forests or visiting the orphanages we plan to help, this is sure to be an unforgettable expedition for every challenger."

Challenge Director, Andy Jackson said of the adventure: "Hiking the Strandloper Trail includes trekking across some rough terrain and wading across rivers, so it will be a good test of fitness and determination. It's important that anyone considering taking part in this Challenge starts training as early as possible - the fitter you are, the more you'll enjoy yourself."
