DM to benefit from French expertise in archiving

The Documentation and Information Section at the Municipality recently received a delegation consisting of the representatives of International Council on Archives and National Archives of France.

The visit was part of the Municipality's efforts to benefit from pioneering international experiences in the field of archives management. The meeting also explored channels of cooperation and exchange of information in order to benefit from French and international applications in archiving and other related fields.

Through the meeting the Section also sought further development of the archiving domain of the Municipality, benefiting from the successful experiments and applications in the field around the world, exchange of specialist expertise, training of archivists in the Municipality, marketing the Municipality's expertise in electronic archiving and joint document management in conferences and special workshops.

When briefed about the method of work at the Central Archives and the way things are organized at the Municipality Archives, the visiting experts praised the Municipality officials.

They expressed their admiration of the Municipality's accomplishments in the fields of document and archives management and the high standard achieved by the Municipality in spite of the increased challenges associated, especially, with the fast paced growth of the emirate and the necessity to go along with the great strides in developing an e-government system.

The visit will pave the foundation stone for a project of a permanent future cooperation between the Municipality and the International Council on Archives and the Sorbonne University, France in order to strengthen the Municipality's position and its pioneering role in the Arab region and locally in the field of Archiving and Documentation and Information Management.
