- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 09 - 2006 at 12:10
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Women's College (DWC) organized on November 5 its mock job interview day for more than 300 Year-3 students.
The mock job interview day is organized annually by all the departments at DWC and comes as part of students' vocational training in the English Curriculum. The program aims at helping students develop their interview skills in order to prepare them for work placement and real jobs after they graduate. All students are given feedback on their performance and given a chance to improve their skills. The assessment criteria include communication skills, vocational competency, critical thinking, problem solving, and professionalism. The interviewers are provided with a list of questions prepared in advance to match each student's major and background. Students are prepared for at least two months prior to the interviews on how to write CVs and cover letters, and behave in a professional manner during the interviews.
Commenting on the program, Dr. Ewa Gajer, DWC's Year-3 English Team Leader, said: "To help our students succeed in today's very competitive job market, these interviews are made as realistic as possible."
