Sheikh Saud holds talks with Tanzanian President

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, received H.E Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the accompanying high-level ministerial delegation who are currently on a visit to the UAE.

During the meeting they held wide ranging discussions aimed at giving a further fillip to the multi- faceted bilateral ties between the two countries.

Welcoming President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Sheikh Saud expressed hope that his visit would further boost bilateral relations between the two countries and pave the way for increased cooperation in economic, trade and commerce sectors.

Alluding to the close friendship between UAE and Tanzania spanning diverse fields, Sheikh Saud expressed his intention to forge dynamic business relations between Ras Al Khaimah and Tanzania.

Briefing the delegation about Ras Al Khaimah's strategic vision to attract commercial and industrial investments, Sheikh Saud said, "The Government of Ras Al Khaimah is successfully implementing a pro- investment strategy which is firmly rooted in the principles of free trade and in promoting entrepreneurship. The Emirate offers tremendous opportunities for business partnerships in diverse sectors like
industry and tourism."

President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete said his country is quite interested in activating the trade relations with UAE in general and Ras Al Khaimah in particular. "The rapid economic growth being witnessed in the two countries have opened up new avenues for bilateral cooperation and economic partnerships between Tanzania and Ras Al Khaimah," he added.

The Tanzanian Ministerial delegation included Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Dr. Asha-Rose Mtengeti Migiro, Minister for Planning, Economy and Empowerment, Dr. Juma Alifa Ngasongwa, Minister for Industry and Trade, Basil Pesambili Mramba, Minister of State in the President's Office of Zanzibar, Mwinyihaji Makame and Deputy Minister of Finance, Mustafa Haidi Mkulo.

Also present at the meeting were Sheikh Omar bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Ruler's Private Affairs Department, Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the RAK Finance Department, Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Civil Aviation Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Customs and Ports, Tanzania's Ambassador to the UAE, Mustafa Salim Nyang'anyi, Tanzanian Consul General Ali Ahmed Saleh, Dr. Khater Massaad, Advisor to RAK Crown Prince and CEO of RAK Investment Authority (RAKIA), heads of government departments and other officials.

Sheikh Saud also hosted a luncheon in honour of the Tanzanian President.
