DM to participate in GITEX

"In the exhibition we will present our latest Total IT Solutions, E-services, E-services related to Geographical Information and new technologies used in Dubai Municipality," said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality.

"GITEX is considered one of the world's top three IT Exhibitions, since it reflects the rapid growth of the IT industry in the region by highlighting the latest technologies and services from international manufacturers, suppliers and government departments in the gulf region," he said.

Lootah recalled that Dubai Municipality's e-Government initiative had recently achieved 90 per cent electronic transition by offering 518 services through the DM portal (www.dm.gov.ae). He said that the Municipality pavilion at GITEX will offer visitors the facility to register for access to these e-services.

"What we aim through our participation in GITEX is to make people aware of the e-Services provided by Dubai Municipality. This is a vital issue because we would like to encourage the maximum number of our customers to complete their transactions online rather than coming to the municipal offices," he said.

Meanwhile, AbdulHakim Malik, Director of Information Technology Department at Dubai Municipality, said visitors to the DM stalls at GITEX will receive brochures, CDs and other publications on e-Services of the civic body.

Dubai Municipality's e-Government project has achieved great success fulfilling its strategic objectives and priorities such as reducing time taken to deliver various civic services, improving internal processes where possible, providing tangible savings for the customer and for the municipality, introducing the latest technology, and increasing customer satisfaction, he said.

Since the launch of Dubai Municipality's portal in October 2001, more than two million online transactions have been registered so far.

The stands will be located in the Sheikh Maktoum Hall at the Dubai World Trade Center. DM staff will be available for the enquiries and comments from the visitors.
