Alcatel Egypt and NTI to sign agreement for five-year training program

Alcatel Egypt signed an agreement with the National Telecom Institute of Egypt (NTI) on Saturday August 31, 2002 to deliver a first class technical program to NTI students covering general telecommunication topics as well as instruction on Alcatel specific products.

The program will be carried out on a five-year period starting from the date of the signing of the agreement. The plan is to train a number of students per year whereby each year will consist of 6 sessions with each session lasting 6 weeks; the session will be further divided into two parts:

- 3 weeks theoretical training at NTI premises.
- 3 weeks practical training at Alcatel Regional Training
Center in Cairo

Alcatel will also make available its experts to train the trainers.

Furthermore and as a part of the training program, Alcatel will also undergo to train two of NTI staff at Alcatel University in France. This training session will last for a period of 6 weeks and will take place within the frame of a multi-course training at the University. Alcatel University has vast experience in training on a worldwide basis and these sessions will contribute to the development of telecom expertise at the institute.

This agreement is signed in line with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology's (MCIT) plan to develop the skills of young Egyptian graduates, MCIT hopes to train 5000 graduates per year during the next five year period. Alcatel, in the frame of its activities in Egypt and more particularly with the Nile Vision Plus Project is eager to extend its partnership with MCIT in order for it to realize its training initiatives and address the critical need to build human capacity and skills in the public and private sectors.
