The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) awarded thirty-one UAE students, certificates of accomplishment on the successful completion of their two-month on-the-job summer training with the department.

"Our summer training program for students, is designed to contribute to the government's policy of creating employment opportunities for young UAE nationals," said DTCM Manager Human Resources, Abdul Hakim Thani.

He noted that the DTCM takes on capable trainees and provides them with full time employment at the department.

"Special attention was given to each student during the training period to ensure that the training program was a success and the trainees gained valuable theoretical and practical work experience," Mr. Thani stressed.

Over a period of two months, the trainees were briefed about the role and objectives of the DTCM, its organization and structure, plans and priorities and activities and operations and underwent training with the various divisions at the DTCM Head Office as well as the sites.

Mr. Thani, who presented the students with the certificates of accomplishment and a stipend remarked, "This on-the-job training is potentially the most relevant and rewarding training for young nationals as we place them within different divisions at the DTCM and give them real hands on training."

"The summer training program was a success in providing the youths with an opportunity to channel their energies in a positive direction and make productive use of their summer vacations," Mr. Thani concluded.

In all, 22 boys and nine girls from UAE's schools and universities undertook the summer training at the DTCM.
