The programme, which registered high interest among nationals and expatriates seeking to set up businesses, is organised in conjunction with the University of Dubai.

Akil Kazim, Operations Director, Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders said: 'This initiative is in line with the series of training programmes that SME has put together to develop and enhance entrepreneurial skills in the UAE, to ensure the country's sustained growth.

'The interactive programme will provide hands on experience and relevant industry exposure to all its participants. As part of the course, trainees will be required to submit a business plan for an assessment and gradation of the project's viability.'

Professor M. Omar Hefni, President of the University of Dubai said: 'The training is intended to serve young entrepreneurs who represent the economic future of our country. It is designed to educate participants in all aspects of building a business. At the end of the programme, we hope to create a qualified and skilled pool of accomplished entrepreneurs.'

The three month programme will include comprehensive segments on nature of entrepreneurship, business ideas, business plan, ownership options, management, marketing, accounting and finance. Participants will be briefed on the importance of market surveys and preparing detailed business plans prior to launching a business proposition.

Bader Al Sharif, a participant of the programme, said: 'As I already own a business, I'm looking forward to expanding my knowledge in managing my business. I also want to learn more about different ways to market a business and how to deal with accounting and financial related matters.'
