Abu Dhabi Golf Championship tickets go on sale

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the Championship owner, is targeting a spectator turnout of over 20,000 for January's tournament following the success of this year's inaugural event.

"In January this year over 17,500 people turned out to watch some of the world's best golfers and we believe that the quality of the overall field, participation of so many star players together with improved facilities at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club will mean more people will come out to experience the second Championship," said Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General, ADTA.

"We have also kept ticket prices at this year's level and expect to deliver an even greater spectator experience."

Children under 18 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult, and in a move to encourage take-up, a special 'early bird' offer of two tickets for the price of one will run until December 14. Car parking will be free during the Championship.


Spectators at the 2007 Championship will be able to see 120 players fighting it out for a share of the US $2 million prize money, including defending champion Chris DiMarco, one of the USA's top 10 golfers, Spain's Sergio Garcia, now ranked 8th on the Official World Golf Rankings, Ryder Cup star.


Colin Montgomerie and playing for the first time in Abu Dhabi, the two-time US Open Champion from South Africa, Retief Goosen, ranked 6th in the world.
