- PRESS RELEASE
During a press conference today, du announced a preview of its innovative Next Generation Services at GITEX 2006.
du revealed its international roaming coverage will be of benefit to UAE's diverse population by providing more coverage to more networks around the world than any other mobile operator has ever done at the time of launch.
du's customers will have more choice in the networks that they can roam on when they travel abroad. Additionally, customers from more countries and networks can roam while in the UAE.
Proudly revealing du's launch offer of 20 popular channels on mobile devices, a world-first for an integrated service provider, Osman Sultan, Chief Executive Officer, du said: "We are all used to 'talking on the go'; du takes our mobility experience to the next level by introducing 'seeing on the go'. With streaming Mobile TV, customers can avail a wide variety of news, entertainment and sports channels directly on their EDGE and 3G mobile devices."
du also unveiled another first in the region, the du Mobile Payment Service, which will enable customers to recharge their line or pay mobile monthly bills and more with the click of a button using their mobile phones. This service is designed to be a comprehensive mobile payment mechanism that will add value to the everyday lives of the people in the UAE.
In addition, du will introduce services that will allow customers to pay utility bills, make retail purchases, buy cinema/concert tickets and pay taxi fares directly from their mobile phones. This will further evolve to include micro-payments. du is currently in the process of getting all necessary approvals prior to launch.
Visitors can get a sneak preview of these services at the du stand Z-G10, Zabeel Hall during GITEX 2006, which will be held from November 18-22 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
