BMW to sponsor Cirque du Soleil
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, November 15 - 2006 at 12:43
- PRESS RELEASE
Cirque du Soleil, the Canadian global performance company, today announced BMW as a sponsor of its Dubai run of its show, Quidam, which will begin January 4, 2007.
Cirque du Soleil has never performed in the Middle East before; with Quidam, they bring one of their most ethereal, mysterious shows to Dubai, the story of a little girl who is led from a world of alienation to one of hope and connection by a host of guides. It is true Cirque du Soleil: original, colourful, and defiant of all limits, particularly in the death-defying acrobatics for which the troupe is famous.
Guenther Seemann, Managing Director, BMW Group Middle East, said, "Cirque du Soleil and BMW are a natural match, as each has grown in a sustained manner to reach a global status as a superbrand. They compliment each other: each has high standards of performance, each is an icon in its own right, and each combines artistry with rigid discipline and control. We know that Cirque du Soleil is right for Dubai, and we are happy to be part of the excitement."
Besides its undeniable entertainment value, business leaders such as Stathis I. Stathis, General Manager, AGMC (the exclusive importer of BMW automobiles in Dubai), believe that the troupe's visit will benefit Dubai's bottom line as well: "Cirque du Soleil's arrival is great for our region---more tourists visiting during the Dubai Shopping Festival, more top-of-the-line entertainment options for Dubai residents, and recognition that Dubai has arrived as a city with the infrastructure to host a show like Quidam."
Cirque du Soleil currently has 13 shows touring around the world, and allies with sponsors in each host city.
