- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, November 15 - 2006 at 12:50
- PRESS RELEASE
Magrudy's, the Dubai-based bookstore chain that has been serving customers since 1975, announced the reopening of its renovated and greatly expanded Jumeirah bookshop, which now boasts 5,000 square feet of retails space on two floors.
"This outlet, located in the heart of the Dubai community, has always been at the centre of the Magrudy's world," said Jonathan MacDonald, Magrudy's chief business development officer.
"For more than 30 years we have listened to our customers and provided them with the city's most interesting and diverse selection of reading. During the past five years we have brought the latest in bookshop design to our new outlets and now are glad to offer this to our Jumeirah customers as well," he added.
Magrudy's now operates five outlets in Dubai, with a sixth set to open early next year in Dubai Festival City as the chain's flagship store. Its first Abu Dhabi shop also is scheduled to open in 2007.
Magrudy's is known for its knowledgeable and helpful sales associates and its convenient special-order facility where costumers can order any book in print at no extra charge.
The reopening also marks the end of a period of renovation for the Magrudy's Mall on Beach Road. The main bookshop occupies two levels in the mall building facing Beach Road, while Magrudy's 'Junior', a store with children's books and educational resources, is located at the back of the center and a stationary and school supplies shop is in the space behind the Gerrard Coffee Shop.
The renovated bookshop is set for a gala public opening on the evening of Thursday, November 9 and will feature an Arabic percussion band and dancers, and specials and giveaways.
