- PRESS RELEASE
Wrapping up the final leg of a three-stop tour of the Middle East's top technology locations, Jordan's technology association, int@j, has pinpointed a number of areas for ongoing regional cooperation and technology industry growth, and has called for strengthened regional focus to build IT industry capacity and strength.
The visits to Dubai, Cairo and Beirut come as Jordan prepares to host the Jordan ICT Forum, the country's premier international ICT conference on September 30 and October 1. During the conference, the latest revision of Jordan's national technology development strategy, REACH 3.0, will be shared with more than 1,000 delegates drawn from international, regional and local stakeholder organisations.
"Since September 11th last year, we have seen the process of globalisation slowing down. Jordanian companies that had previously focused on Western markets have been focusing on regional opportunities instead," said Juma. "Now we're working to build regional partnerships in order to drive growth in outsourcing, software and content development and in services to address the very real regional markets around us."
The REACH strategy aims to build new opportunity through the creation of a technology based economy and to bring ICT industry stakeholders, investors, business leaders and government together to build broad support for the country's national ICT opportunity at the national, regional and international levels. Int@j also believes that the event will bring further focus to the region's industry as a whole.
"As investments in Jordan's ICT industry grow at the local, regional and international level, Jordanian developers, content providers and innovators are emerging as a powerful regional force in value-added technology development. And the government is supporting the industry by promoting a healthy local environment for ICT sector growth," said Juma. The Jordan ICT Forum presents an opportunity for technology investors to evaluate this dynamic business environment and also to assess Jordan's promising future."

The Jordan ICT Forum is the Kingdom's premier international information and communications technology (ICT) industry event held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The Forum serves as a platform to showcase Jordan's efforts and achievements in building a vibrant industry to develop export-oriented ICT products and services. The Forum provides a channel through which Jordan's strategic ICT development initiative, REACH, is presented to stakeholders and potential partners. The REACH Initiative, launched in 1999 at the request of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is a dynamic national strategy for Jordan to develop its ICT services sector and outlines opportunities which can be maximized. It outlines a decisive national plan, assessed and adjusted yearly, specifying actions now being implemented-by the private sector, the government and other stakeholders in order for Jordan to continue to build a thriving knowledge-based economy. Jordan is currently in its third iteration of REACH.
