The portal will contain the most popular aspects of the ITP.net website reformatted for mobile users. People will be able to access news and features anytime, anywhere via their mobile phones. In addition to Technology, Business, Construction and Campaign ME content, the mobile portal will also provide users with GitexTimes content, Gitex Dubai 2006 exhibitor listings, and a GitexTimes Map24 Mobile Client - a free events mapping solution.
'People in the Middle East want to access news and information anywhere, at a convenient time to them,' said Peter Conmy, Director, ITP Digital. 'ITP's new mobile portal will not only save people time but also provide additional quality of service.'
ITP's mobile portal will provide users with updated news covered in their various publications. It will be available in both Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) versions to assure maximum exposure and compatibly for mobile users. Other various business and consumer mobile portals are expected to roll out in the future.
At present, the UAE and GCC members are enjoying an annually increasing growth rate in mobile services, providing an increasingly equivalent penetration in mobile Internet to regular Internet users. The number of Internet users in the Arab world increased by over nine million in 2005, to reach 26.3 million, as per new figures from Dubai analysts, Madar Research. Moreover, the UAE has led countries such as the United Kingdom and Sweden, with the world's highest mobile penetration rate of 145 per cent at the end of 2005 with 4.5 million connections, according to Gartner, global technology research firm.
The ITP.net mobile portal is available via www.itp.net/mobile from any mobile device. GPRS, eWAP or Waeyak services are required from Etisalat or similar services from Du to launch in the next few months.
