UPU Conference highlights industry challenges and evolving postal network

The second day of the region's first UPU Strategy Conference hosted by Emirates Post highlighted the views of leading regional and internationally experts on the topic of "Evolving postal network and ensuring sustainable development of the postal sector."
The session on 'Ensuring Sustainable Development of the Postal Sector' was led by Maria Encarnacion, Vice-Minister Transport and Public Works, Spain and featured the opinions of industry leaders like Georges Lefebvre, Director General of La Poste, France, and Guozhong Huang, Deputy Director General, UPU International Bureau.
Presentations by global heads provided glimpses into diverse postal issues from around the globe. The exchange of these experiences and case studies will help shape the World Postal Strategy to be adopted at the 2008 Universal Postal Congress in Nairobi.
The conference reflects Emirates Post's long-term strategy to develop UAE's position on the world map. The conference has assembled a galaxy of experts who are committed to providing solutions that will give a new direction to postal services worldwide.
Summary and key outcomes of the conference will be presented at the concluding session by Edouard Dayan, Director General of the UPU and Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post and UAE Conference Chairman.
The UPU Strategy Conference is taking place for the first time outside Switzerland, where the organization is headquartered. It brings together the postal sector's decision-makers and partners to analyze the changing postal environment and explore ways of building a dynamic global customer-focused infrastructure.
