Etisalat celebrates GULFCOMMS 2006 with a technology free-for-all

Etisalat has announced its promotional activities to mark the 2006 edition of the region's premier tech showcase, GITEX, and its own participation in the specialized event and exhibition taking place alongside, GULFCOMMS.
Etisalat mobile customers who have a Push to Talk (PTT) enabled phone can subscribe to the service for free, and all new and existing PTT subscribers can enjoy unlimited free 'pushes' for a whole month from the commencement of the promotion on 18th November 2006. To subscribe, simply call 101, or send 'r ptt' by SMS to 1010.
Push To Talk is a walkie-talkie service available on certain handsets, which enables the user to communicate with other PTT users in the contact list. A message sent from one phone is played through the loudspeaker of the receiver, and this service is available wherever there is GSM coverage. Solutions are also being introduced by Etisalat that will make this an attractive option for field staff of companies to communicate with each other.
Etisalat is also selling its 3G Data Card at a 10% discount. The Etisalat 3G Data Card can access the Internet at speeds of up to 384 kbps wherever 3G coverage is available, and up to 64 kbps over the GPRS network. The Etisalat 3G Data Card also allows the user to convert his laptop into a mobile phone by sending and receiving SMS messages, making and receiving calls, and accessing the phonebook on the SIM card.
