Western Digital Corporation to showcase advanced PC storage technology at GITEX 2002

Western Digital's advanced PC storage technology, including hard drives spinning at speeds from 5,200 to 7,200 RPM and having capacities from 20 to 200 GB, will be on display at the company's two UAE authorized reseller GITEX exhibition standss - Al Yousuf and FDC International.

Western Digital, a worldwide leader in personal computing storage, recently launched its highest capacity performance desktop hard drive, offering customers up to 200 gigabytes (GB) of digital storage. The newly launched WD Caviar(R) hard drives empower users with the capacity and performance needed for storage-rich activities such as Internet downloads, digital images storage, movie and music downloads, Internet gaming, and home video editing.

WD Caviar 60 GB-per-platter 7,200 RPM hard drives are offered in capacities ranging from 120 to 200 GB. To ensure quiet operation in noise-sensitive desktop/work station environments, Western Digital offers optional fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) motors.

In addition to high-performance, high-capacity PC hard drives, Western Digital is a leader in storage applications for consumer electronics devices. The Company said that more than 10% of its most recent fiscal-year unit volume was shipped for new hard drive applications - for example, game console and personal video recorder markets.
