Three journalists from the UAE, with fluency in Arabic and English, will be selected for the fellowship programme. Candidates will be invited by Harvard Medical School (HMS) to participate in a five-day training programme at its Office of Public Affairs in Boston.

Noora Al Abbar, Marketing and Communications Manager in Tatweer said: "The fellowship programme will allow selected intern writers to interview leading Harvard Medical School officials and HMS affiliated researchers, and visit Harvard Medical School affiliated hospitals. Through their interaction with Boston based science writers, trainees will explore the process of reporting scientific research material in an engaging style to increase readership in the Middle East."

Details of the Science Writer Fellowship Programme were announced 15 November at the Dubai Press Club by senior DHCC and DHFMR officials, including Dr Robert Thurer and Noora Al Abbar. Leading HMS faculty members addressed the gathering of UAE science journalists via satellite link at the launch meet.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Events Manager, Dubai Press Club said: "Dubai Press Club is committed to the progress of journalism in the region. We believe the initiative will contribute to the progress of journalism in the science and medical domain, a field in which development is certainly needed."
