The event gathered CIOs and high level business and technology leaders who met IBM executives from around the world and discussed the impact of SOA on businesses and how SOA improves the responsiveness of businesses.
IBM's customers shared their experiences of SOA and how it fundamentally changed their business operations to become more efficient, effective and collaborative.
'The SOA Executive Summit succeeded in sharing strong viewpoints and presenting a truly strategic forward path with the Middle East's leading technology users by gathering our top customers in the ME and a really strong executive team from IBM's EMEA and worldwide operations,' said Takreem El-Tohamy, general manager of IBM Middle East, Egypt, and Pakistan.
More.
The summit focused on the following areas: the use of business process management (BPM) to exploit the benefits of a standards-based SOA; governance as the cornerstone of SOA success; preparing dependable IT infrastructures through security, management and virtualization; and creating industry-specialized SOA services.
In its latest survey, IBM's Institute for Business Values Study stated that 92% of IBM SOA customers found that cost reduction was the initial justification for initiating an SOA project and that, on average, customers realized 51 percent revenue growth as a result of an SOA strategy. The study came on the side of the launch of the largest ever lineup of new software and services for building and expanding a service oriented architecture (SOA).
'SOA is a major shift in technology that will continue to impact businesses. As today's competitive climate requires companies to adapt immediately to changing market and be more agile to meet the continuously growing demands of businesses. IBM leads the way in this transformation with a clear vision in both SOA strategies and solutions and will demonstrate on SOA implementations in the Middle East and debate around questions facing today's technology users,' added El-Tohamy.
