Located in Hall 1 on stand B1-1, Diebold will be showing its range of security features resulting from the company's significant investment in its OptevaŽ automated teller machine (ATM) series. Diebold will be re-emphasising the importance of safety and security features on and around ATMs.

Henrik Funch, vice president and general manager for Diebold Europe, Middle East and Africa Says "The growth in ATM fraud is a trend worldwide. It is a global problem that challenges both the general public and the financial community. We are at the forefront of technology to beat the fraudsters, and we invest significant amounts of time and money every year in developing new features and enhancements to counter the threats posed by the criminal fraternity. Many of these counter measures will be on display at this year's GITEX exhibition."

Diebold, a past winner of the ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) awards, will also be promoting its website portal - www.atmconsumersafety.com - which it launched at the beginning of the year to help financial institutions promote ATM safety to their customers.

The portal is a result of Diebold's extensive research into global ATM security issues to provide help and advice to both the general public and the financial industry as a whole. Among the world's top three IT exhibitions, GITEX continues to be the most important gateway to the Middle East market with more than 1,200 exhibitors representing 2,274 Companies from 61 Countries during last year's event.

Ten Top Tips to Foil the Fraudsters
• Don't let your cards or your card details out of your sight when making a transaction.

• Do not keep your passwords, login details and PINs written down.
• Do not disclose PINs, login details or passwords in response to unsolicited emails claiming to be from your bank or the police.
• When entering your PIN in a shop or a cash machine use your spare hand to shield the number from prying eyes or hidden cameras.
• Only divulge your card details in a telephone transaction when you have instigated the call and are familiar with the company.
• Make sure your computer has up-to-date anti-virus software and a firewall installed.
• If you have registered your card for online protection via Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode ensure your password is kept safe and secure.
• Access internet banking or shopping sites by typing the address into your web browser. Never go to a website from a link in an email and then enter personal details.
