According to Gartner, the report's Visionaries are close to customer needs and understand how the market is evolving, with respect to delivering enterprise-class, rather than test-lab, deployments of RFID equipment.

As a leading vendor in the RFID marketplace, Symbol has a significant deployment base and one of the broadest passive UHF product portfolios in the industry. In the past year, the company has pursued a solution-based product vision that has corresponded to industry needs.

Strategic developments include:

The XR400, a Gen 2 fixed reader with Microsoft® operating system for hosting third-party applications, was voted a "top performer" in a reader review conducted by RFID Journal.

The DC600, a turnkey RFID portal system designed for easy installation and multiple configurations for use in a number of environments.

A portfolio of Gen 2 inlays utilizing Symbol's patent-protected dual dipole technology, which enables tags to be read from any orientation at distances of up to 30 feet.

The Symbol Certified Label Converter program (SCLC), through which customers can purchase Symbol's high performance inlays.
A prototype of a hardened metal mount tag, the first in a line of RFID Asset Tag products designed to provide intelligent asset management solutions for customers.

A prototype of a mobile reader for fork-lifts, conveyor belts and other material handling equipment.

"We believe our position in Gartner's esteemed RFID Magic Quadrant is a reflection of our high-performance products and close customer relationships," said Tarek Hassaniyeh, sales manager, Symbol Technologies Middle East. "Building upon our three-decade expertise in bar code and radio frequency technology, Symbol will continue investing in innovative solutions that solve customer needs."
