The two day exhibition being held at the Trade Centre of Malaysian Consulate in Dubai would highlight the opportunities for higher education in Malaysia that could be availed of by the students of higher secondary schools in the UAE.

The universities from both the government and private sector in Malaysia offer a wide range of specializations in various subjects and will hold free tests for foreign students to determine the level of proficiency in the English language.

They will also offer special discounts in university registration fees during the exhibition and the hold educational seminars and consultancies for students.

Shushilil Azam Bin Shuib the Director of Malaysian Education Promotion Centre in the Middle East Area and North Africa said the exhibition reflected the long term strong desire to strengthen the friendship and goodwill between Malaysia and the Arab and Islamic world. He added that his country offered special educational facilities to Arab students from Middle East region.

He said the total number of students in Malaysian universities are more than 5 million students of whom 51,000 are from different parts of the world and over than 6,000 are from the Middle East region pursuing courses in both science and arts. He said the Malaysia Education Center in Dubai was willing to offer all guidance to students and educational institutions in the UAE.

He said in addition to many regular programs of university education and higher studies, several short and useful courses in administrative sciences and English language were also available to students.

Moreover, students will have the opportunity to meet universities' representatives to inquire and discuss first hand about all available educational opportunities. A special seminar will be held on the system of comprehensive education in the Malaysian International Islamic University on the second day of the exhibition at 3:00 p.m.

Bin Shuib said that for Arab students, Malaysia offered special facilities such as the issuance of visit visa to them and their families. In addition, there were scholarships for foreign students keen to pursue higher education in Malaysia universities within the framework of the joint educational exchange programs.

He said petroleum engineering, Islamic studies, Information, technological sciences, medicine and pharmacology were the specializations most sought after by the students in the Middle East.

'Arab students will find that many American and European universities have a presence in Malaysia offering internationally recognized certificates. The low cost of studying and living, high security, psychological and social stability and all other conditions suitable for university education in Malaysia were also very attractive.'

Though the educational programs were similar to those available in USA, Europe, Canada and Australia universities, what distinguishes Malaysian universities is the lower cost of educational programs. Malaysia is presently considered as a regional center for students of higher studies especially from developing countries thanks to the high quality in education and the availability of top class facilities such as libraries, laboratories, computer networks, experienced faculty and extensive syllabi.

He said foreign students come to Malaysia for education because the quality of education offered matched world standards, fees were affordable and various specializations in both arts and sciences suitable to students' different interests and their financial capabilities were on offer.

Besides Malaysia is preferred for its reasonable cost of living, many twining scientific programs with American, British, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand and French universities in higher studies, extensive use of English language in all specializations, easy entry procedures for foreign students and the country's political and economic stability.
