During the five-day exhibition, Etisalat is presenting live demonstrations of pay-TV channels on Nokia N92 multimedia mobiles and other Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H) enabled devices and mobile phones. Television content is broadcast across the DVB-H frequency, which is presently being provided using Nokia's DVB-H broadcasting solutions. The service is presently being finalized by Etisalat in coordination with the TRA.

"Etisalat's mission is to extend people's reach. By introducing mobile television, we are increasing the consumer's access to information and entertainment and highlighting our commitment to better service our customers through innovation and investment in the latest technologies," said Essa Al Haddad, Chief Marketing Officer at Etisalat.

Etisalat has partnered with major television channels and broadcasters such as Al Jazeerah, BBC World, CNBC Arabiya, ART, E-Junior and Infiniti Television for the demonstration. The trial service is free of charge and all consumers who own DVB-H enabled devices can access the service within a 2km radius of Dubai World Trade Centre.

"Mobile broadcasting in the UAE, as demonstrated by Etisalat, gives the industry further proof that broadcast mobile TV using DVB-H technology is a reality,"

concluded Mr Al Haddad. "Etisalat is fully committed to broadcast mobile TV and the DVB-H technology, and we will continuously work to deliver a high quality and rich multimedia experience for all of our customers."
