The ISO 27001:2005 is recognized and accepted worldwide as the security standard that has a process based approach towards establishing, implementing and continuously monitoring an Information Security Management System. The standard aims towards reducing the business risks associated with Information Security and gives the needed assurance to all the stakeholders of an organization.

The ISMS was developed and implemented by ORC in partnership with Khimji Ramdas Computer & Communication Systems, one of the leading IT Companies in Oman with special focus on security & storage solutions and Paladion Networks, Globally acclaimed Information Security Firm. The certification was awarded by BVQI, one of the leading certification and accreditation bodies accredited under UKAS.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Masoud Bin Salim Al- Msalmy, GM HRA & PR on behalf of the CEO of ORC emphasized, 'The certification is a remarkable step towards the commitment of ORC to Information Security and reflects the security culture of the Organization. The achievement compliments the e-Governance objective of ORC to provide secure, reliable, effective and efficient services to its stakeholders and customers and is in line with the vision of ORC to become a competitive enterprise and a model for Industrial excellence with a proficient workforce.'

Mr. Amour Nasser Al-Muharzy, Manager Corporate Information & Communication ORC said, 'Compliance to the ISO 27001:2005 standard has ensured that applicable security controls have been implemented to counter various threats to the critical information of ORC and has improved the preparedness of his staff towards handling any security incidents.'

The Certification makes ORC the coveted few organizations to achieve the ISO 27001:2005 certification and thereby setting a benchmark across on Information Security in the Country. The organization is already certified on ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QSHAS 18001 and thereby the ISO 27001 certification is in line with the commitment of the Organization to comply with International Standards.
