Abu Dhabi Municipality delegation visits DCL

A delegation from Abu Dhabi Municipality visited Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) on Sunday.
The Abu Dhabi Municipality delegation included Eng. Mohammed Al Kuthairi, Head of Central Roads Laboratory, Dr. Salem Behnam, Consultant of the Laboratory and Ata AbuRamadan, Senior Engineer, Laboratories.
Eng. Salah Amiri, Director of DCL and Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Qassimi, Assistant Director of DCL and Head of Research and Standardization Management Office received the delegation.
Eng. Amiri said that DCL is keen to offer cooperation and exchange information and knowledge in the fields of specifications, tests, calibration and issuing compliance certificates for products aimed at enhancing performances of projects under the prevalent climatic conditions and available materials.
He also gave a presentation on the tasks and activities of DCL in the field of quality control and ensuring consumer protection. Eng. Amiri explained different tests conducted on engineering materials and the procedures followed in issuing compliance certificates or DCL marks for materials and products.
He also stressed on the DCL's keenness in sticking to the quality system according to the international standardization specifications as the British accreditation body, UKAS has given approval to 52 of the DCL's tests, which conform to the ISO 17025 standards, increasing the credibility of the results of these tests and the confidence of the customers.
Eng. Al Kuthairi asked the DCL officials to brief the delegation on the important technical and administrative achievements of DCL as well as what is new in development and upgradation programmes in order to strengthen the channels of cooperation between the two sides.
The delegation members later went on a tour of the different laboratories at DCL, during which they were briefed on the advanced equipments used there to conduct tests as well as the procedures followed right from receiving specimen to the tests and scrutiny of the samples and issuance of certificates and reports.
The Abu Dhabi delegation expressed its appreciation on the high standards achieved by DCL, which has provided its technical staff all the expertise and specialization, in addition to advanced technologies and tools used for tests and calibration, helping it to be entitled for the name and fame throughout the local and regional level. The delegation also offered its willingness to have more cooperation and exchange of information with the DCL for the public welfare.
