Conmex to feature 250 brands and companies from 21 countries

Over 250 brands and companies from 21 countries will be featured during the debut edition of Conmex at Expo Centre Sharjah from November 25-28, 2006.

In its first edition itself, the Middle East's first exclusive trade platform for construction machinery, equipment, and vehicles, will be occupying a total exhibition area of 16,000 sq. m.

The exhibition will be utilizing both outdoor as well as indoor displays areas, a first in the region for any construction-industry trade event.

Among the major brands that will be represented at this year's Conmex are COPMA, Caterpillar, Hyundai, Sennebogen, Kobelco, Liebherr, Potain, Alimak, Dynapac, Atlas Copco, Stetter, Sandvik, Vogele, Snowkey, Sany, Raimondi, Eicher, CGR, RKF, Scania, Daewoo, Hyster, Bobcat, Grove, Konecranes, Soilmec, Terex, and Belle.

"Conmex will the Middle East's largest display of Construction machinery, equipment, and vehicles,"


said Mr. Saif Al Midfa, Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah.

"It is for the first time in the region that so many international brands and companies engaged in this particular sector will be gathering on a single platform. Conmex will be an ideal market entry vehicle for those international companies and brands that are keen to enter and establish a foothold in the Middle East region due to the massive boom that the construction industry here is currently experiencing," he added.

At present, there are 1,400 on going projects in the Gulf region with a value in the region of US$697 billion. Of this, the UAE accounts for US$221 billion (32%) of the projects and Saudi Arabia for US$146 billion (21%). The total construction spend in the GCC, Iran, and Iraq, is currently running at US$294 billion.

"For companies and brands already having setups in the region, the event will act as a major booster for strengthening their regional network. For the Middle East construction industry, Conmex will be a one-stop comprehensive sourcing avenue for everything related to construction machinery, equipment, and vehicles," said Mr. Saif Al Midfa.

Conmex will display construction plant and machinery, commercial vehicles, lifting and conveying equipment, construction equipment, tools and special systems, formwork and scaffolding, construction site facilities, spare parts and accessories, communication and navigation equipment, and safety equipment.

A major highlight of Conmex will be the live demonstration of tower cranes, fork lifts, earthmovers, concrete batching plants, and other light and medium range machinery, equipment, and vehicles. Again, it is for the first time in the region that live demonstrations of so many construction machineries and equipment will be held together at a single venue.

Conmex will attract key personnel and decision makers from the construction industry, contracting companies, traders, distributors, stockists of construction machinery and equipment, service providers including transport companies, consultants, renting and leasing agencies, and Public administration and building authorities from across the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

Conmex is being organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
