The scale of the 2006 exhibition reflects the growth of luxury and duty-free markets in the Middle East.
Dubai Duty Free alone is expected to finish the year with sales close to US$700 million, and with the opening of Concourse 2 and Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport in the coming year, the retail area will expand from its current 8,000 square metres to more than18,000 square metres.
It currently ranked No 3 in the world in terms of turnover, recorded 2006 half-year sales $323 million, up 15 per cent on 2005 which itself was 18 per cent up on the previous year. Turnover is on target to reach $1billion by 2008/2009.
From high fashion jewellery and accessories to premium cigars and beverages, watches, gourmet and fine foods, perfumes, cosmetics, confectionery, designer luggage items, the latest electronic gadgetry, and even hand-crafted model jets - Middle East Exclusive is the place to be seen.
Exhibitors from 23 countries represent every continent, creating a unique window to the international world of exclusive luxury goods.
Many more are returning to Dubai for another opportunity to present themselves to some of the most dynamic retailers in the world.
Organisers Channels Exhibitions report a number of 100 exhibitors across all categories. Managing director Justin Boutros commented: "This year's event features more than 500 brands. "
"This show is always about luxury retailing and we strive to offer suppliers the opportunity to present their products and businesses to the region's luxury retail market. The continuing growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors reflects how well this is being achieved."
Middle East Exclusive takes place under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai, and chairman of Emirates Airline, and with the support of Dubai Duty Free and Middle East Duty Free Association.
The show is preceded by the Middle East Duty Free Association conference on November 23-24, and the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup, now in its 14th year, on November 25-26.
Middle East Exclusive is being staged in hall number 5 and 6 at Dubai's World Trade Centre. Opening times are 10:30 AM - 6:30.
