- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, November 25 - 2006 at 09:04
- PRESS RELEASE
A major conference on sustainable development in construction begins on Sunday in Dubai, with delegates keen to discuss essential issues around the impact of building on the environment.
Speakers at the conference will include Sultan Ahmad bin Sulayem, CEO of real estate developer Nakheel, and Professor Geert Hofstede from the University of Maastricht, Netherlands.
The conference combines the CIB Working Commission on Culture in Construction (W112) International Conference and the 4th International Conference on Innovation in Architecture Engineering and Construction at the Knowledge Village Conference Centre.
The integration of the two conferences will provide an opportunity for researchers and professionals involved in the commissioning, planning, design, construction and management of the built environment to meet, exchange ideas and learn of new innovations, research and practices.
"This is the first major conference of this kind that the British University has been involved in organising and further demonstrates BUiD's capacity, as a research-based university, to play a leading role in driving forward research in the UAE," said Dr Mohammed Dulaimi, Chair of the Conference and Senior Lecturer at the British University in Dubai.
Through its five-sector specific Institutes BUiD conducts research and offers a range of full-time and part-time Masters degree programmes in association with leading, research-based UK universities.
