Dubai World Vice Chairman and Group CEO, Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, met with the Prime Minister of the State of Kaernten of Austria Dr. Joerg Haider yesterday (25 November, 2006) to showcase the developments of Dubai World's infrastructure over last few years.

The Vice Chairman elaborated on the history of Jebel Ali and the advances that have been made in the Free Zone by emphasizing the economic importance the area creates for Dubai World.

The Vice Chairman underscored the importance of the visit and said, "We are delighted to welcome the Austrian delegation to our country and their desire to see the developments that are transforming the entire Jebel Ali region. Dubai World is today reaching out to the rest of the world to forge strong business links through strategic developments, investments and acquisitions."

The Austrian delegation's leader, Dr. Joerg Haider, said, "We are impressed with the rapid development taking place in the Jebel Ali region and what Dubai World has to offer to the world. It will be a dream come true for us to be able to be working with a company of Dubai World's stature and strengthen relations between Austria and the UAE."

Matthew Leech, Senior Vice president, Development, DP World, said, "With Jafza, one of the world's leading trade, logistics and commercial hubs, right next to our flagship port of Jebel Ali, we are able to provide our customers value-added services which help to improve the efficiency of their supply chain. This ability to offer integrated management is one of the keys to our success as a global terminal operator and a model we are using elsewhere in our network."

Dr. Mohammad Al Banna, Vice President, Sales, Jafza, added, "The Jebel Ali Free Zone's advantage lies in having a centralized location where all business requirements are met effectively in order to drive industrial development successfully."

Mr Haider and other Austrian delegates later toured the state-of-the-art facilities at Jebel Ali Port and visited Nakheel's offices for a brief on the Palm Islands Project and The World, which are among the largest land reclamation projects in the world.
