Dubai Women's College (DWC) inaugurated the opening of the biggest charity box in the world.
The charity box, provided by Beit Al Khair Society, will remain inside DWC's campus from Sunday 26 November to December 14.

In a ceremony attended by DWC staff and students and Beit Al Khair Society representative, Dr. Howard Reed, Senior Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology and DWC Director, emphasized that the College pays significant attention to teach its students to become more involved in charity and volunteer work.

"Every year, our students organize several charity events and activities which help not only people in the local community, but also needy people all over the world," he noted.

Beit Al Khair Society is a charity organization that aims at building bridges between the needy people and those who can help decrease their suffering. "This charity box represents our hopes that the community will become more active in charity work and giving," said Mr. Said Mubarak Al Mazroui, Deputy General Manager, Social and Branch Affairs at Beit Al Khair Society.

"The UAE has a strong reputation in being a leader in charity and humanitarian support and we are doing our best to maintain this positive image," he added.

The idea of hosting the charity box on DWC's campus was initiated by a group of the Business Department students who took the full responsibility to arrange for the initiative with Beit Al Khair Society. Dr. Reed and Mr. Al Mazroui unveiled the box and initiated the first donations. They were followed by several students and staff members.

The charity box measures approximately 2 meters in width (without its drawer and about 12 meters with the drawer) and 5 meters in height. Beit Al Khair Society had sent an official request to Genius Encyclopedia Association in order to register the charity box as the biggest in the world.
