  • PRESS RELEASE

Seven fascinating one-of-a-kind luxurious watches created for top new international brand, Goldpfeil Geneve by some of the world's master watch-makers will go on display in Abu Dhabi at the Hotel Inter-Continental on September 29 and 30.

The exhibition of the seven unique timepieces is part of a marathon world tour to attract bids for an international auction of these watches by Christie's on November 20 in Geneva, and also to celebrate the UAE launch of a separate range of Goldpfeil Genève watches. The exhibition in Abu Dhabi is being organised by Al Jaber Jewellery, Abu Dhabi, the sole distributor in the UAE for Goldpfeil Genève and other prestigious brands of watches.

The never-to-be-reproduced seven watches are the prize-winning works of seven leading members of the prestigious Geneva-based Horological Academy of Independent Creators (AHCI), who entered an exciting competition run by Goldpfeil to help conceive their first collection of watches. The result is a set of luxury mechanical watches, seven one-of-a-kind creations and seven exclusive series, all brilliant demonstrations of ingenuity and originality.

The fantastic seven one-of-a-kind timepieces comprise "Mythos 7", a turning mythological week-calendar featuring a unique dial hand-engraved on a solid gold plate created by Svend Andersen, an "Amphiscala" system inspired by a 17th century concept from brothers, Felix and Thomas Baumgartner, a world premiere model with central jumping hour from Vincent Calabrese, a planetary construction in platinum including a thermometer from Vianney Halter, an exquisite miniaturized Tourbillon from Frank Jutzi, a watch with an amazingly pared-down dial and original oscillating weight from Bernhard Lederer and a dual time-zone function housed in a gold-ringed case created by Antoine Preziuso.

The sensational launch of this collection at the World Watch and Jewellery Show, Basel in 2001, also celebrated the entry of Goldpfeil, a German luxury brand specializing in fine leather goods, into the arena of designer watches. Goldpfeil's partnership with the members of the AHCI led to the emergence of an exclusive German-Swiss double signature - Goldpfeil Genève.

The Horological Academy of Independent Creators was founded in 1985 to promote independent creative craftsmanship. The association aims to bring into focus the exceptional talent of its members to develop watches and clocks featuring a blend of technical superiority and aesthetic beauty. Goldpfeil attracted the interest of seven of the AHCI members to take part in the creation of the first watches in its history.

Mr. Makram Kammoun, General Manager of Al Jaber Jewellery, said: "We are delighted to be associated with the making of watch history. As these watches have been created for all time and designed for people all over the world, it is only natural that people in this part of the world also get the opportunity to view them, and, if they desire, own them. Those who wish to participate in the international auction by Christie's can fill in a bid form available at Al Jaber Jewellery, Abu Dhabi. The auction for these enormously popular watches will start with a minimum bid of $US 50,000. The separate seven series range of Goldpfeil Genève watches are also available for sale at our outlet".

Mr. Heinz J. Heimann, President of Goldpfeil Genève, said:"Goldpfiel Genève is excited to present its historic collection to a region that has a rich cultural heritage. These timeless masterpieces are all distinguished representatives of a brand that cultivates a passion for fine materials, craftsmanship, creativity and innovation.

Mr. Heimann added: "Goldpfiel Genève has made vast strides across the world since its launch and we are confident that its entry into the UAE market will continue to attract thousands of more enthusiasts, connoisseurs and collectors of beautiful timepieces".
