Reuters appoints new senior company officer for the Middle East and North Africa

Reuters, the premier global financial information and solutions provider and world-renowned news service organisation, has announced the appointment of Jean-Marc Paufique as its Senior Company Officer for the newly created Reuters Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).

He is succeeding Michael Kuli, who has served as the Managing Director of Reuters Gulf since November 1999.
Mr. Paufique joined Reuters France in 1988 based in Paris. He then took on several positions in Sales and Sales Management and was nominated Marketing Manager France in 1994, before moving to Luxembourg as Country Manager in 1997. In January 2001, Mr. Paufique was nominated Reuters Senior Company Officer for the East Mediterranean and North Africa region, based in Nicosia, where he was responsible for a total of 200 employees.

The new Reuters MENA region resulting from the merger of the former Gulf and East Mediterranean & North Africa entities will employ about 340 Reuters' staff, in the information, solutions, consulting and media institutions, with the UAE serving as the main hub for its operations.

In his new position, Mr. Paufique will be responsible for expanding the company's diverse business activities across 23 countries, and enhancing its local and regional support for banks, financial and media institutions.

A Frenchman, Mr. Paufique holds a degree in Engineering from L'Ecole Centrale de Lille and is a Post Graduate Business School Degree from L'Institut Superieur de Gestion- Paris.
