Dubai World announces grand celebrations to mark National Day

Dubai World has unveiled a grand program to celebrate the 36th National Day of the Untied Arab Emirates on December 2.

The holding company's plans include sport and cultural activities, as well as a raflle draw for three cars and over 100 attractive prizes.

Jamal Abdullah Lootah, Director, Human Resources & General Administrative Affairs(SS), Dubai World, and Chairman of the organizing committee, said, "The National Day is a distinguished moment in the calendar of this nation. We want to use the occasion to spread awareness about its significance for the sake of our future generations.

"This year we have decided to come up with something new. We have organized exciting activities for the employees of the Free Zone Companies and other participating teams. The main objective is to generate a larger scale of participation and foster social and business ties among employees."

The Dubai World Social & Sports Club is the most comprehensive employee-based recreational club in town. It is regarded as an extension of the group's commitment to the Social, Sports, Recreational and Welfare aspirations of its employees.

The club, which was launched on the UAE National Day in 1995, is considered the oldest of its kind in Dubai. It will hold the National Day activities at the employee dormitory in the Free Zone. These will include contests in football, basketball, hokey, cricket and volleyball as well as activities in bodybuilding, weight training, and a marathon, cycling, swimming, tennis, arm wrestling, tug of war and the marshal arts. Many other activities have been chalked out for the ladies and children as well.

The organizing committee chaired by Mr Lootah, includes Saeed Al Qaizi, Director of Procurement and Contracts, Ahmed Al Qassim, Recruitment Manager in the HR Department, Omar Sharif Hasan, Senior Supervisor, HR Training at DP World, Abdul Samad, Jadaf Security In-Charge, and Shaik Rafik, Sports Assistant of the Club.
