A new company, Spectrum Glass LLC, has been formed as a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Industrial Project (ASIP), to operate the factory that will be built in the Musaffah industrial area of Abu Dhabi.
'This is yet another exciting step forward for our company,' says ASIP Managing Director Mr Shames Al Dhahry. 'Modern high rise construction techniques require huge quantities of glass and there seems to be no end to the number of new projects being announced in the UAE.'
The factory is due for completion in July 2007 and will employ 82 people.
Total production capacity is expected to be 650,000m2 a year, of which 75 per cent will be double glazing. Materials to be used by the factory will be sourced from the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
This follows an announcement earlier this week that ASIP is also building an AAC block factory alongside the glass factory.
The block factory is a joint venture with Al Qudra Holding and will employ 65 people when completed in October next year.
'Both factories are logical next step investments for ASIP,' Mr Al Dhahry says. 'They will both produce basic but high quality products that are in keen demand, and we anticipate we will have no difficulty in selling the total output from both factories.
