The agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi, will help DAE University to meet its objective of providing a strong workforce for aviation and aerospace-related activities in the world's fastest growing regions - the Middle East, India and China. It will also provide human and laboratory resources for applied, problem-solving research in the field.

Speaking at the signing Dr. George H. Ebbs, CEO of DAE University, said, "The role of our university in the DAE family of aviation and aerospace enterprises is to provide a comprehensive training, higher education, and research facility that will ensure the industry's expansion can be maintained moving forward. DAE University will prepare young people in the region to participate as technicians, engineers, pilots and business executives for this burgeoning industry."

Dr. Tayeb A. Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, in formalising the agreement with Dr Ebbs, said, "The Higher Colleges has been the pioneer of aviation-related training in the UAE. This partnership with DAE University will enhance the role that the Higher Colleges will play by providing a dynamic industrial base in aerospace with applied, problem-solving research in the field."

Bob Johnson, CEO of DAE added, "This partnership will enable both institutions to explore ways of collaborating on projects including joint industry-funded research in aviation and aerospace business models and technologies, research in the development of innovative vocational teaching methodologies and sharing space."

Highly regarded and respected for innovative learning across the seven states that comprise the United Arab Emirates, the Higher Colleges of Technology has 14 men's and women's modern campuses. These are located in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah. Together they have awarded more than 28,600 academic credentials to over 20,000 graduates.

Dubai's planned Dubai World Central Airport, which will be the largest airport development in the world when complete and is designed to meet air service needs to 2050, will help put the UAE at the centre of this expansion. The number of new airlines, the growth of airline fleets, the construction projects for greenfield (new) and the expansion of existing airport facilities, and the enormous increase of career opportunities for professionals in the field have reached unprecedented levels.

DAE is also expanding in other key sectors. Recently DAE Engineering led a consortium that purchased SR Technics, a multinational business headquartered in Zurich and specializing in manufacturing, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for commercial aircraft. One of the best names in the MRO sector, it is looking to expand across the Middle East and Far East markets - highlighting the emerging role that DAE is playing in the development of the aviation and aerospace industry in the region and other emerging markets.
