The Visual Communication and Interior Design Departments of the American University in Dubai have organized two lecture series aimed at introducing the student body to the latest developments in the field.
Ana Laura has exhibited in some of the world's most prestigious museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and has trotted the globe showcasing her challenging video installations. Daniel's work as a musician has also won him several international awards. As a result of the support of the Spanish Embassy, the two artists, who have been working together for some time, have come to Dubai, to offer AUD students this exceptional opportunity. The workshop lead to the development of an end of term project that will allow AUD students to exhibit their work in the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre.
Ana Laura and Daniel also announced a film project that resulted in a general casting session among AUD's student body.
On another front, Mr. Sanjay Badve, an International Architect and Interior designer, gave the students of AUD's Interior Design department a lecture on Architectural Lighting and Art Photo Exhibition - Hidden Dimension.
Mr Badve, who holds a Masters in Architectural Lighting, and who specializes in Architecture, Interior design and Light, shared with the students slides showing projects from various places such as India, Tanzania and the USA, and demonstrated how each one of the pictures relies on the quality of light (the hidden dimension) to bring alive compositions in Architecture, Art and Nature.
Mr Badve also held a photo exhibition of his work, called HIDDEN DIMENSION (Conversation of shadows and light) that is inspired by the tremendous drama of light and shadow, and tries to capture "various emotions of few motionless forms and few natural elements."
"I have remained fascinated, excited and inquisitive about the HIDDEN DIMENSION (relationship) between man and nature, between the man-made and the natural environment." said Mr Badve.
