'Our focus at this year's event will be on assisting our customers' understanding of how to reduce waste. We are aware of just how popular the Ideal Home Show is and believe that it will provide us with the natural forum to demonstrate our commitment to energy conservation,' said Eng. Amal Koshak, Deputy Manager Demand Management DEWA spokesperson.
DEWA will have a number of representatives at the show, who will be available for advice and information on effective measures to reduce waste and to promote maximum energy efficiency. Their presence aims to boost the organisation's conservational initiatives by creating awareness at what is one of the major consumer and lifestyle shows in the region.
As well as providing information on how to save energy and cut household bills, DEWA will also be hosting special children's workshops at the show, which promise to be fun as well as educational. These include a colouring zone, a computer zone and a planting zone; where children can learn the importance of replenishing natural resources. The organisation will be celebrating the UAE national day by distributing gifts to both children and parents and will have a special prize in a competition relating to conservation.
DEWA are keen to spread the word about the importance of caring for the ecology of the region and how every individual can make a difference. Their initiatives are the keystone to the organisation's Corporate Social Responsibility as an energy and water provider. At this year's show, they will be sharing information on how the prevention of waste can have a positive impact on the local as well as the global environment. A machine at their stand will offer a practical demonstration of how this can be achieved by revealing the amount of water that can be saved through the simple attachment of a flow regulator. 'An additional bonus is that this kind of measure will, of course, save the customer money at the end of the month,' said Eng. Koshak.
Last year's Ideal Home Show attracted more than 7,500 visitors, with the number this year set to be significantly higher. DEWA will be participating at the 2006 show alongside a number of renowned designers and celebrity chefs; including Lawrence Lllewelyn Bowen, Linda Barker, Sanjeev Kapoor and Osama Al Sayed. 25% of the proceeds from ticket sales this year will be donated to the Support Lebanon campaign.
