This year's competition, which is part of Dubai's Celebration of the Flight of the Falcon, follows on from the hugely successful Arabian Horse Design Challenge run in 2005, which culminated in a charity auction that raised over AED 3.4 million for charity.
'We are delighted to be able to participate in this unique concept again,' commented Terry Johnsson, Managing Director, General Motors Middle East. 'GM plays an important role in the community in which we operate and projects like this provide an ideal platform to nurture talent while also contributing to local charities.'
The 'GM Wings in Motion' design competition challenges budding young art and design students in the UAE to create exceptional painted sculptures built on the majestic falcon design. The challenge is to create wonderful painted sculptures which stand on their own as works of art while, at the same time, evoking themes which reflect GM, its role in the world of motoring and the 'GM Wings in Motion' theme.
The winner will see their large falcon design displayed on the streets of Dubai in addition to receiving a cash prize of AED 4,000. Four smaller falcons will be exhibited at GM's three retailers across the UAE and the GM regional office at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
