Dubai Press Club to host Reuters Foundation Workshop on making TV news

Dubai Press Club (DPC) will host the Reuters Foundation workshop, Making Television News that will offer creative approaches to producing television news stories.

Reuters TV Production Editor Lloyd Watson will lead the workshop to be held from 3-7 December. He will be supported by Ahmad Assar, Senior Producer, Reuters Dubai.

Jo Weir, Project Manager at Reuters Foundation said: "The vibrant media industry in Dubai makes the Dubai Press Club an ideal location for the Reuters Foundation to bring together journalists to share industry specific skills and ideas."

Maryam bin Fahad, Events Manager, Dubai Press Club said: "The Reuters Foundation TV workshop is part of our initiative to provide enhanced training opportunities for journalists. This also marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the Reuters Foundation.

"In today's highly competitive media environment, professionals have to keep pace with the demands of the industry, while upgrading their own skills. The Reuters' workshops will provide expertise and instruction that is tailored to the needs of the journalists in the region."

The five-day Reuters Foundation TV workshop will include topics on research, writing for TV, camera work and editing. Lectures will be supported by practical exercises and video examples.

Conducted by the charity arm of Reuters with the intention of raising standards of global journalism, the TV workshops have served as a useful training resource for reporters around the world over the past 10 years.

Applicants interested in participating in forthcoming Reuters Foundation training workshops must be currently employed as full-time journalists and demonstrate a commitment to a career in journalism in their country. Criteria also include at least two years' professional experience, with a competency in English.
