The Iranian capital will be Etihad's eleventh destination across the Middle East and Levant, providing a convenient three flights-per-week service for business and leisure travellers.

Guests will enjoy Etihad's award-winning hospitality and service aboard one of the airline's newest aircraft, a purpose-built two zone Boeing 777-300ER which offers Pearl and Coral Zones.

"We are very excited to be launching this first Etihad flight to Iran, which will significantly strengthen business and travel opportunities between the two countries and across the region as a whole," said James Hogan, CEO, Etihad Airways.

"Guests can now fly frequently and conveniently from any of our global destinations such as New York or London, via Abu Dhabi, to Tehran, enjoying our superior standards of air travel."

Prior to launching the new service there has been considerable demand from members of the UAE-based Iranian community, many of whom will use Etihad's ground transfer services to travel to and from Abu Dhabi.

The luxury coach service enables Guests from Al Ain, Sharjah and Dubai to travel conveniently from their homes or hotels to Etihad's hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

"As the national airline of the UAE, Etihad is proud to offer these innovative ground services which will significantly benefit Guests living across the Emirates. With a large section of the UAE's Iranian community being based in Dubai, our frequent luxury coach transfer will be hugely popular," continued Hogan.

The purpose-built Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is configured to carry a total capacity of 378 Guests, 350 in the Coral Zone and 28 in the Pearl Zone.

Furthermore, the Pearl Zone offers Etihad's award-winning business-bed, which reclines from its seat position into a fully-flat and luxurious 6 feet 1 inch bed.

Outbound flight EY731 will depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 01:55 arriving in Tehran at 03:25.

The return flight, EY 732, will depart at 04:55, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 07:25. Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport is located on the outskirts of the city, and is well serviced by public transport.
