Sponsored by Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and organised and promoted by the Dubai Desert Classic Executive Committee, the 2003 Dubai Desert Classic will take place at the Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course from March 6-9.
And for the region's golf fans, there will be more to enjoy than just the play of the world number one with the traditional Dubai Desert Classic Golf Exhibition set to receive a facelift aimed at creating a 'total golf atmosphere' and bringing together the UAE golf suppliers and golf clubs under one roof to provide the customer with a vast range of products, clothing brands and services.
Mohamed Bu Amim, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Desert Classic Organising Committee, said: 'Our aim is to provide a true golf exhibition where suppliers, golf clubs and the customer come together in a genuine golf environment. We will also see a huge range of products available at the exhibition, giving the customers numerous choices'.
He added: 'The Dubai Desert Classic identity is already very strong and we would like to see it for more than just the four days of the tournament each year.'
'To this end, starting with the 2003 tournament, we are providing suppliers with the opportunity to use this identity on their products throughout the year so they are able to market it within their outlets in the UAE as well as at the golf clubs'.
Bu Amim also announced the provision of retail spaces within the exhibition tent for both suppliers and golf clubs has drawn a healthy response following the announcement of Woods' participation. 'The initial response has been very encouraging with Pro Golf International, The Montgomerie - Dubai, Doha Golf Club and National Golf Club Turkey the first exhibitors to take space,' he said.
Rai Legnar, Managing Director and CEO of Pro Golf International said he was delighted to see the exhibition take shape. 'We are very happy that the Executive Committee has taken this step and I am sure that we, as suppliers, can provide the customer with many choices at the exhibition,' he said. 'From October 1, our Dubai Desert Classic range will be available in golf club pro shops and other selected outlets in the UAE.'

Following Tiger Woods decision to play in the 2003 Dubai Desert Classic, the UAE golfing industry has been further boosted by news that the event's traditional golf exhibition is set to be the most comprehensive in the tournament's 14-year history.
